Mac's First Fiesta!

I had the honor of creating a fiesta themed invite for the most adorable 1 year old I know! Knowing what an awesome party planner is mom is, I couldn't wait to see all the pieces put together, and as you can see Mac's Fiesta was nothing short of perfect - Mac's mom pulled out all the stops: a mariachi band, piñata, AND maracas as party favors! I still can't believe this little man is already "UNO!!!"

a TEXAS sized welcome!

Yesterday's post was all about my Study Abroad friends coming to visit! I put together some fun TEXAS themed welcome goodie bags for them and wanted to share!

Southern Comfort Inspiration Board | Couple's Shower

My sweet brother and future sister-in-law's BIG DAY is approaching quickly and I am incredibly excited by all of the celebrating there is to do! One of my mom's best friend's, Pat, is hosting a couple's shower for Clay and Kate. I am overjoyed that Mrs. Pat has enlisted my help to create an invitation and help style the shower! The theme of the couple's shower will be "Southern Comfort," so I have been pinteresting away to find the perfect southern touches. I have been trying to keep an open mind to the fact that this IS a couple's shower *aka not just for girls WOMP WOMP.*  Although, I want to make everything cutesy, I am going to refrain from scaring away the boys.

So excited to put all of these ideas into action! (modified for the guys, of course.)

DIY - Tissue Paper Garland

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1. tissue paper

pick any fun color combo that you like and don't forget

to include gold & silver paper!

2. rotary cutter & cutting mat / good ol' fashioned scissors

I would recommend the rotary cutter for efficiency, but scissors will get the job done.

3. string/twine/rope

whichever you prefer. (I used a glittery gold twine for my garland!)

STEPS:

1. fold one piece of tissue paper in half 

(where the creases will be parallel to your cuts)

2. fold the same piece in half once more 

3. begin making cuts, leaving about 1 in. uncut on the creased side

4. once you have cut all the way across, cut the the piece of tissue paper

in half at the 2nd fold (each piece of tissue paper will make 2 tassels)

5. unfold one of the already cut sheets and begin to roll it up 

from the center (uncut portion)

6. once you have rolled it all the way up, give the uncut portion 

a little twist to keep it together

7. last, fold the prepared sheet over your twine or rope 

and twist together at the top.

...and there you have it. repeat this step, alternating colors, until you have your 

desired length of garland AND THROW A PARTY!
