the nine to 5 - volume 3

This season I was tasked with creating a logo for our Susan G. Komen - Pink in the Park night. This was a fun project for me because I got to step out of the box a little bit! Here is the final product.

And here is the poster that we used to promote the event. I carried this look throughout all of the promotional material including our website, social media, marquee, videoboard, and various print graphics.

the nine to 5 - volume 2

If I haven't told you already, I have THE COOLEST job on this planet. Doing graphic design for a minor league baseball team is so much fun. With 72 home games per season, there is ALWAYS something new to promote or new ideas to try out.

I don't know about y'all, but I am a *big* fan of Kendra Scott jewelry. Kendra Scott is based here in Austin and they always have fresh ideas when it comes to promoting their brand. One of those ideas being their "Caught in your Kendra" cards that Kendra Scott employees keep with them at all times - just in case they run into someone wearing Kendra Scott jewelry. If a Kendra employee spots you... in your Kendra - you will get one these nifty things and you can use it towards 20% (i think) off your next Kendra purchase! Genius idea.. who's ever it was -
WHY WOULDN'T I WANT TO WEAR KENDRA ALL DAY EVERY DAY?!
(confession: i kind of want to wear it everyday despite the discount... can you blame me?)

This fantastic idea compelled me to propose to our marketing department that we implement a program similar to this and they were ALL FOR IT!
designed by Whitney Rhoden
We have armed our entire staff with these "Caught Ya!" cards so that when ever we catch a fan sporting their Express gear - we can thank them with two FREE TICKETS to an Express game! I'm not gonna lie the first chance I had to give one of these puppies away, I was so overjoyed that I literally chased after a kid and probably scared him more than excited him.
Seeing your ideas become reality might be the best part about working in this industry.

Stay tuned for volume 3 of  'the nine to 5'

the nine to 5 - volume 1

This is the first of what I plan to turn into a weekly post in which I will share something nifty or neat that I have designed at my nine to 5!

As much I would love to tell you that Whit + Wonder is my full-time job - I can't. I only wish that I was able to put every waking moment into it, but I'm not there yet...not quite.

In the meantime... I DO HAVE A REAL JOB or career, if you will... a pretty darn cool gig, I must say.  My official title is "marketing coordinator," but it is safe and simple to say that I do *graphic design* for the Round Rock Express (Triple-A Affiliate of the Texas Rangers)! When you work in minor league baseball there is NEVER a dull moment. We are all about providing a 'good ol' fashioned fun' experience for all. I couldn't have dreamed of a more exciting place to start my career in sports marketing.

A day in the life looks a little something like this:

9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
7:05 p.m. - ???

If you are familiar with baseball at all, you can probably guess that I work a lot of hours [hence the venti iced white chocolate mocha pictured above!]

Now that you have an idea of what I do, stay tuned for volume 2 of the nine to 5!
[where I will actually include some of my design work!]
coming soon.....
